Water Well Drilling Permitting
Arizona requires every well to be registered with the Arizona Department of Water Resources, known as the Well Registration Number (or Well Identification Number). Drilling a new well or modifying an existing well require permits that are issued to the driller and expire a year after it is issued. Once the well is drilled (or modified), the driller must file a Well Driller’s Report with Arizona Department of Water Resources. If a well is not drilled in this timeframe, the permit expires and a new permit is required before drilling can commence.
